THE WINE:
Gabrielle envisioned ELLE for years and 2012 vintage provided the character that perfectly matched her vision: a Red Wine that has the ripeness Napa Valley can achieve with the classic structure of a Bordeaux wine and impeccable balance.

TASTING NOTES:
The 2012 Vintage shows beautiful refinement and structure with very clean fruit expression. After a small 2011 vintage, the vines produced a great crop both in quantity and quality. When Gabrielle blended ELLE, both she and renowned consulting winemaker Mitch Cosentino, exclaimed, don’t change a thing- it is perfect! A great launch of this new offering!!!!

ELLE favors the red fruits – dry cherries, cassis, red currents- in aromas & taste. It finishes with well-integrated oak and subtle layers of vanilla due to extended barrel aging. The elegant tannins on the finish are a classic trait of Gabrielle wines.

VINEYARD:
The grapes for ELLE are from the Oak Knoll District, known for its elegant Bordeaux style wines and perfect for a classic Red Wine blend. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot were harvested from the gold metal winning O’Connell Family Vineyard Estate. Malbec and Merlot came from boutique nearby vineyards.

Oak Knoll has been treasured by award winning Napa Valley wineries for decades and is now known in its own right since it received Appellation status in 2004. The area has been growing world-class fruit since the 1850s, when Captain John Osborne planted his award-winning vineyard, that today includes the Estate Vineyard, the core of ELLE.

TERROIR:
The wine is 100% from the Oak Knoll District Appellation. Cooler mornings extend the hang time of the grapes on the vine during the growing season, allowing slower ripening and longer time to develop elegant, complex flavors.

Climate: The fruit benefits from moderately warm rather than the high daytime temperatures of the northern Napa Valley Appellations, due to its topography closer to the San Francisco Bay with its cooling winds and fog.

Soils: The soils of the O’Connell Family Vineyard vary from fertile Richmond loam, decomposed volcanic and sand & gravel mix. This variety adds to the complexity and affords longevity to the wine.

FOOD PAIRING:
A Classic Bordeaux style wine is perfectly suited for elegant cuts of beef, such as a Chicago style Filet Mignon with the classic sides of baked potato and creamed spinach.

OAK PROGRAM:
Aged in new French Oak for 34 months of Medium Plus Toast

CASE PRODUCTION:
Very limited production: 155 Cases

CELLARING:
A firmly structured wine with 15+ year cellaring potential, yet as all GABRIELLE wines, can be happily consumed as a young wine.
